Everyone's so busy these days. What if you could read two classic books at the same time? People over at Barnes and Noble's Mash Up have the perfect versions of this.
A few favorites:
The Satanic Purses: Just before dawn one winter's morning, a hijacked jetliner explodes above the English Channel. Through the falling debris, two self-proclaimed New York City shopaholics – Ally and Erica – fall from the sky and miraculously wash up on the snow-covered sands of an English beach clutching their credit cards. Through a series of surreal metamorphoses, dreams and revelations, they find enlightenment in a small shop selling designer handbags.
Cluelysses: Set on one day in 1995, Cluelysses follows the peregrinations of Tai, the high school nerd, and her counterpart, the privileged rich girl Cher, around Beverly Hills. Using an innovative interior monologue and an ingeniously intricate doubling that mirrors the voyages of Odysseus, Joyce captures the sum total of human experience...
Fun with Moby-Dick and Jane: This Early Reader series teaches children the fundamentals of literacy through “whole whale” spotting, a technique developed by Dr. "Cap'n" Ahab. Lively illustrations of “old tars” harpooning large sea mammals will keep even ADD children enthralled.
I've got to say, I might have been into the whole harpooning thing as a child.
