Venice is a city built on water. That's part of its charm--lots of gorgeous bridges, water lapping against buildings, and of course those gondolas. But sometimes the water gets to be a problem in Venice. The city is supposedly sinking little by little every year, but on an everyday basis, that's not such an issue. That is, until the floods come.
Water levels reached their highest point in 22 years. Check out the pictures--people are knee-high in water. Apparently experts claim global warming is the problem. Venice is trying to install a system of offshore dams to prevent flooding, which hopefully will prevent this kind of problem in the future.
Venice is beautiful; don't let it disappear! Fight global warming!
